The Free Alternative for Herbal Healthcare

Alternative and Herbal therapies are becoming more and more popular over synthetically produced drug compounds. Much of the shift in the last 5 years has been due to the publicised side effects produced by conventional drug therapies promoted by the pharmaceutical industry. However herbal medicines have not always been accessible to people in the United Kingdom and many patients dont know how to obtain them.

January 31, 2005 -- Healing herbs have been used from the earliest times by Native North Americans and the mystical practices of Aureveydic Medicine in Asia. For thousands of years Healing Herbs have been used to treat a variety of medical conditions. From the earliest Apothecaries to modern pharmacies, herbs have been purchased from herbalists or from the local pharmacist. The types of condition that can be treated by herbal medicines numbers in the hundreds if not thousands.

Many people around the world are using herbal medicines as a real alternative to the synthetic medicines produced by pharmaceutical medicines. The main difference between herbal medicines and synthetic drugs is that synthetic drugs are almost always available on prescription thereby reducing the cost of the medicine to the patient.

Patients however do not understand the mechanisms involved in obtaining herbal medicines or the reasons why they are entitled to obtain these medicines from their General Practitioner (GP). In recent years I have seen for myself the increase in use of herbal medicines by people to treat common and more serious complaints. A lot of money is being spent on herbal medicine. Unfortunately because patients are funding the purchase of these medicines themselves the cost to them personally can be substantial. This also means that Herbal medicines are out of reach of those groups of people with limited income such the Unemployed, Elderly, Mothers with newborns, full time students etc. While researching the information for my book I have uncovered the loop holes that will allow people to obtain herbal preparation for free.
